Money Matters- How to Get the Funding Your Department Needs
The financial restrictions in the current NHS will be all too familiar to BSGE members. The question of how to get the latest piece of equipment, when everybody says there is no money, is frustratingly common. If you’re looking for a solution, look no further!
A session on Making laparoscopic surgery happen and be financially viable in the modern NHS is being run as part of the hugely popular pre-congress masterclasses at the ASM. It will take place on May 17th at the state-of-the-art Clinical Skill’s Centre, in a dedicated building at Hull Royal Infirmary. The faculty will include BSGE past president Kevin Philips, who as Chief Medical Officer of Hull and East Yorkshire Trust knows plenty about funding and budgetary issues.
The aim of the workshop is to give delegates the understanding and the tools to negotiate effectively. Afterwards they will be in a stronger position to achieve an optimal operating environment. The course is perfect for those who are frustrated with the current system as well as those who just don’t know where to start, when they covet the shiny new piece of equipment on the stand at a conference. Company representatives may also find this session useful, as it should help them understand the difficulties that everybody in the NHS faces, as well as tips on how to overcome the barriers.
The workshop will include sessions on what surgeons want, what managers want and what companies want. It will also educate delegates about the different contract possibilities and how to bring all these possibilities together to present the best case in your hospital.
So, don’t delay. To register for this, or one of the other pre-congress masterclasses, please click here. The registration fee is £100, which should prove to be money well invested.
