Applications are invited for a Post-CCT Fellowship in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy). The successful candidate will also contribute to the general obstetric and gynaecology service to include second on-call cover for obstetrics / emergency gynaecology.

The post is a Full Time and available initially for one year from June 2017. This is a vibrant department with several consultants having an interest and expertise in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. The post will ideally suit a candidate who wishes to develop special skills and / or gain qualification in advanced gynaecological endoscopy. It may be possible to offer RCOG ATSM in Benign Abdominal Surgery /or/ Hysteroscopy to a deserving candidate. Department participates in major national trials related to Gynaecological Endoscopy and Endometriosis (GAPP 2 Trial, PRE-EMPT Trial). Participation in research, publications and audits will be actively encouraged. The department is a BSGE recognised Endometriosis Centre.

All varieties of laparoscopic hysterectomy, treatment of advanced endometriosis (with multidisciplinary team) and laparoscopic treatment of prolapse are performed in the department. This is a BSGE recognised Endometriosis Centre. There is a well established multi-disciplinary chronic pelvic pain service and endometriosis clinics. The Department also places a strong emphasis on out-patient gynaecology services performing out-patient endometrial ablation, hysteroscopic sterilisation, hysteroscopic morcellation of fibroids and polyps and Manual Vacuum Aspiration under local anaesthesia.

The Gynaecology services are delivered from both North Tees and Hartlepool University Hospital sites situated 15 miles apart. The selected candidate is expected to work at both sites. The Consultant-led delivery suite is housed at the University Hospital of North Tees. The emergency gynaecology and elective in-patient gynaecological services occur at the University Hospital of North Tees. Day-case and out-patient services are provided on both sites.

Active participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is expected.

Applicants must possess MRCOG and CCT in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or within 3 months of obtaining it) or equivalent qualification / training at the time of interview.
