We are pleased to ask for applications for a clinical fellow post at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust with the aim of accessing training in the RCOG Advanced Training Skills Module – Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for the Excision of Benign Disease.  This module provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills in the area of advanced laparoscopic surgery. This is a highly specialised training programme and details of the curriculum are available on the ATSM page of the RCOG website http://www.rcog.org.uk/curriculum-module/advanced-laparoscopic-surgery-excision-benign-disease Successful completion of the ATSM requires candidates to achieve a wide range of competencies and this is expected to require 12- 18 months in training.

One post is available in the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust commencing  later in 2017, to suit the candidate. The preceptor is Mr Dominic Byrne, Consultant Endo-Pelvic Surgeon and President BSGE. This post is for 12 months and possibly extendable.

Applicants should have a desire to develop a special interest in laparoscopic surgery, being able to demonstrate a degree of aptitude in this surgical field. This is available as a clinical training fellow post and the successful candidate will join the middle grade rota in O&G at RCHT. The applicant will continue on national terms & conditions as a Trust Specialty doctor and will be employed by RCHT for the duration of this post. This post could be a designated OOPT provided permission is obtainable from your Deanery.

Levels recruiting to

At the start of the ATSM programme (August or October 2017) the successful applicant should be of equivalent ST6 standard and be able to demonstrate achieved equivalent ST5 competencies including MRCOG part 3.

Interview date

Interviews will be held at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on Friday 30th June 2017 commencing at 1.30pm   The post is available from August or October 2017.

Interview process

Length of interview: 60 minutes

Interview structure:  A three station interview. Each station will cover different criteria from the person specification and last for twenty minutes. There will be a station comprising of a structured interview, a practical skills test on a mannikin and a clinical scenario.
