The BSGE run a number of important and well received meetings throughout the year. They offer the opportunity for members to debate, share knowledge, develop skills and set standards for best practice.
Co-ordinating the meetings is both challenging and rewarding, the BSGE council created the post of meetings convenor about a year ago, with outgoing BSGE President Ertan Saridogan the first to take on the role. The convenor scrutinises the content and organisation of all BSGE meetings, including those with other partners, such as the RCOG. It is a very important post, as education through meetings is a core activity for the BSGE and the income is vital for other key objectives such as the allocation of bursaries and awards.
The BSGE Council have decided to appoint a Deputy Meetings Convener, to work closely with Ertan in the lead up to the next Annual Scientific Meeting (Edinburgh 9 – 11 May 2018), and then to take over as convenor. Opening applications for the post, President Elect Sanjay Vyas said
“If you are an enthusiast with a broad knowledge of the specialty and an eye for detail, you may be the ideal person for this role.”
Members that would like to apply should email Atia Khan with a copy of their CV, and a personal statement of up to 400 words, that details any past experience of organising meetings and why they should be appointed. The deadline for application is 5 pm Friday, 8 September 2017. Good luck!
