It is with great pleasure that we can invite BSGE members and indeed all practitioners interested in ambulatory gynaecology to this meeting dedicated to managing women's health conditions in an outpatient setting.
Contemporary practice in gynaecology is increasingly being undertaken without general anaesthesia in an ambulatory environment. It is therefore important that those of us involved in women's health care - hospital doctors, nurses, GP specialists - are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high quality ambulatory care. Gynaecological interventions in an outpatient setting have evolved rapidly over the last decade and whilst they provide many advantages to women, clinicians and the wider health service, ambulatory care also presents challenges and uncertainties.
This meeting is designed to be highly interactive with short presentations introducing key themes and controversies in specific sessions. The idea is to allow time for wider discussion so we can share our thoughts, protocols and experiences. The meeting is supported by industry and so there will be the opportunity to learn about some of the latest technologies.
The meeting will be held over 2 days but start on Thursday lunchtime and close on Friday lunchtime. This will allow time for travel down and then back home so you can enjoy your weekend in full. Refreshments will be provided throughout and there is an optional evening meal where there will be the opportunity to network with colleagues with similar interests and with our industry supporters.
