The BSGE and RCOG have updated and extended the guidelines on gynaecological endoscopy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The new statement provides recommendations for both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and a succinct summary of the evidence underpinning them.

The revised statement replaces the original joint RCOG / BSGE statement on “Gynaecological laparoscopic procedures and COVID-19′, which was released in March in the early days of the pandemic. The changes reflect ongoing research and greater understanding of COVID-19 and minimally-invasive surgery. Elective and emergency procedures are covered as are considerations according to the treatment setting.

Professor Justin Clark, BSGE President, announced the new statement saying:

‘We are pleased to provide an updated and extended statement, co-badged with the RCOG pertaining to gynaecological endoscopy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please go to the BSGE website or click on the link below to download. We hope you find this updated statement useful to help guide your local practice’
