Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Laparoscopic Gynaecological Surgery from November 2015 for 6 months with a possible extension to 12 months.

This post is to cover the maternity leave of the trainee undertaking the ASTM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for Benign Gynaecological Disease under the guidance of Mr Sanjay Vyas. This clinical fellow post would be suitable for a current O & G trainee who wishes to obtain additional experience in laparoscopic surgery out of programme or for a post CCT doctor who has recently completed their O & G training and requires some further experience in laparoscopic surgery before moving into a consultant post.

The daytime duties will include combinations of general and specialist endometriosis gynaecology clinics, and gynae theatre, in addition, the postholder will be required to share in the middle grade out of hours duties and labour ward cover during the day on a rota shared with 10 Specialist Trainees (ST3-7), 3 Research Fellows, and an Academy Teaching Fellow.

Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.

This post is not recognised for training by the Specialist Advisory Committee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and does not have postgraduate deanery approval. However, the job is educationally sound. Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training.
