ATSM Clinical Fellow (TRUST DOCTOR) Obstetrics and Gynaecology: Advanced Laparoscopic surgery for benign disease

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, to undertake ATSM training at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. This is a Trust Doctor post and also open to post CCT candidates or NTN holders in years ST6 and 7.

The successful applicant will undertake clinical work to complete the ATSM in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery as well as general clinical and non-clinical work within the O&G department.   Currently, there are 17 Consultants in O&G covering all the subspecialties and 3 who have extensive training in advanced laparoscopic surgery. The Trust has 5 integrated laparoscopic theatres and there is plenty of surgical experience available working with the Endometriosis team. In Gynaecological oncology there are two cancer surgeons in this Cancer centre with support from the MDT, an associate specialist and advanced nurse specialists.

The post holder will join the middle-grade rota working a 1 in 8 on call for O&G.

Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling.  There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall.  The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter.  There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.
