Dear Colleagues,
It was a pleasure to see many of you at the recent BSGE ASM in London. I hope you had an enjoyable and inspiring meeting, and I very much look forward to seeing you again next year.
I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of Industry, Events and Meetings on the BSGE Council, a portfolio introduced under our newly elected President, Miss Rebecca Mallick. I am truly excited to take on this responsibility and the opportunities it presents for our society.
Industry partners are an integral and valued part of everything BSGE does — from education and training to conferences, meetings and collaborative research. My ambition is to build on these relationships in a way that is strategically aligned with the BSGE Council’s vision, and that creates even greater value for our members. In parallel, I will also be developing our Membership Relations portfolio, with a particular focus on broadening BSGE’s reach to trainees, nursing and AHP colleagues, GPs and the wider multidisciplinary community.
To take this work forward effectively, I am forming a small Industry, Events and Membership sub-committee. I am looking for a group of motivated and forward-thinking colleagues who share a passion for advancing our specialty and want to contribute to shaping BSGE’s future direction.
As a sub-committee member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to:
- Developing a structured and transparent framework for BSGE’s industry partnerships
- Supporting the planning and development of new BSGE events and meetings
- Growing and energising BSGE membership across all member categories
To apply, candidates must be members of the BSGE and are asked to submit a short CV along with a brief covering letter outlining their interest and how they feel they could contribute to this portfolio.
Appointments will be for a maximum term of three years, after which members may reapply.
Please submit expressions of interest to BSGE@rcog.org.uk by 31st July 2026.
I very much look forward to hearing from you and to embarking on this exciting journey together.
Best wishes,
Mr Amer Raza
Chair of Industry, Events and Meetings
