August 2026
Welcome to my first BSGE Presidential Monthly Update.
It has been a busy and exciting first few months as BSGE President, with lots happening across the Society. Through these short monthly updates, I hope to keep you informed about our latest work, important developments and upcoming opportunities to connect, collaborate and learn.
Improving fibroid care
I am delighted to announce the creation of a new BSGE Fiibroid portfolio, reflecting our commitment to improving fibroid care across the UK. This important work will be led by Mostafa Abdalla.
Full details will follow in the next edition of The Scope, and we will soon be releasing information about the first BSGE National Fibroid Network meeting. I am really excited about the potential of this work to bring colleagues together, strengthen pathways and support more equitable access to high-quality fibroid care.
Strengthening multidisciplinary working
It was a real pleasure to represent the BSGE at the ACPGBI Annual Meeting in Belfast. This was an important step forward in strengthening collaboration between our specialties and developing a more unified approach to multidisciplinary care for people with complex endometriosis.
Thank you to everyone who applied to be part of the CRESCENDO project. This important initiative is being spearheaded by our BSGE Honorary Secretary, Miss Donna Ghosh, and will help to further strengthen and solidify colorectal and gynaecological MDT partnerships.
I look forward to building on this work and exploring further opportunities for joint education, shared standards and closer collaboration.
Save the date: a new national meeting
I am also delighted to share the exciting news of a brand-new national meeting:
BSGE EndoUK 360 MDT Meeting
3–4 December 2026 Hilton Birmingham Metropole
The meeting will be preceded by the Endometriosis Clinical Nurse Specialist Day on 2 December 2026.
This promises to be a fantastic event and a must-attend meeting for everyone involved in the endometriosis multidisciplinary team.
Please save the date—further information and registration details will follow soon.
