It’s election time again. BSGE Honorary Secretary Mark Whittaker announced the launch of latest round of BSGE elections saying: ‘This year we will elect a new Vice President. Sanjay Vyas moves up to the role of President of the BSGE and Dominic Byrne stands down after completing his two years as President. I would like to personally thank Dominic for all his significant contributions to our Society’.

Mark invited nominations for the post of Vice President and subsequently President of the Society. He added that he was personally stepping down from the post of Honorary Secretary, having acted as a strong and reliable BSGE Secretary for the last 5 years. He said that ‘the time has come for a replacement. Anybody wishing to discuss this role with me is very welcome to contact me for advice’.

There are also vacancies for one senior member of Council and one junior representative. Sameer Umraniker has completed his second term on the Council and will stand down having made an excellent contribution to the Society. Donna Ghosh has been appointed in Worcestershire and so stands down, having also made a valuable and enthusiastic contribution to the BSGE.

Members should complete the nomination form and send it together with a digital photograph and a short statement (maximum of 250 words) about why they are a suitable candidate for the post to Atia Khan at bsge@rcog.org.uk by midday on March 23rd, 2018.

The nominees will then be displayed on the website and sent by email to all BSGE members. Voting will be online in the dedicated members’ section of the website. Mark concluded the launch with these words:

‘I do encourage you all to take an active part in the elections, either nominating friends and colleagues or standing for a Council position and, of course, voting!’
