Applications for the BSGE/Ethicon ST5+ Laparoscopic surgery training programme for 2018 are now open.

BSGE President Dominic Byrne sent a message out to all trainee members to encourage applications for this prestigious programme, saying:

‘We are delighted that Ethicon have chosen to run this highly valued programme again this year and will accept 24 candidates by competitive selection.’

The details of this comprehensive training programme in laparoscopic surgery are available here on the BSGE website. Any questions regarding the training programme can be obtained by contacting Vikki Gibbs on VGibbs1@ITS.JNJ.com

Confirming details, Dominic added ‘The BSGE would like to make this course available to as many trainees as possible. Therefore, if you have attended an Ethicon/BSGE or Olympus/BSGE ST5+ programme in the past you are not eligible to apply for this programme.

The Clinical Expertise Laparoscopic Gynaecology Programme, established by Ethicon in partnership with The British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, offers training designed to allow trainees to practise the skills to perform a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, the knowledge to set up a laparoscopic service and to develop skills as a laparoscopic surgeon. The training programme is split over 5 days with events at the MATTU in Guildford; the NSTC in Newcastle and ESI in Hamburg as well as a day in a UK centre observing a faculty member.

The closing date for registration is Friday, 12 January 2018. So start getting your application together now. Good luck!
