Two BSGE members are running to raise money for Endometriosis UK. Fevzi Shakir, BSGE Council member and Chair of the Website and Governance portfolio and past President Kevin Phillips are both taking part in the ASICS London Run on Sunday, 21st July 2019.

It is the fifth year that Fevzi has taken part in the 10km run,  raising money for Endometriosis UK and increasing awareness of this distressing condition.

Fevzi said:

‘ I have been fundraising for Endometriosis UK for a number of years now. Endometriosis affects 1.5 million women in the UK and can cause considerable pain and impacts on fertility. Please help me to raise money for Endometriosis UK, any amount will help considerably.’

Kevin added:

‘Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and causes severe abdominal pain, which often means the woman can’t function normally during these episodes. The average time to diagnosis is 7 years. It costs the British economy over 8 billion pounds per year. Please help support these women in what is such a debilitating and chronic condition.’

Fevzi and Kevin will join thousands of runners taking on the challenge. The route winds through Central London, passing some of London’s top landmarks, the True Geographical Centre of London, down closed Regent Street, the Strand and onto the Embankment, The organisers said:

‘This summer we invite runners of all abilities to unite in one of the world’s most inclusive and diverse cities to celebrate the things that bring us together. When you run the ASICS London 10k you’re running united, and together we can achieve anything.’

Fevzi and Kevin encouraged BSGE members to support the charity through their Virgin Money Giving pages:

‘It is a privilege to be able to help this charity yet again, and I am grateful for the support you all provide.
