Objective

  • To gain a deeper understanding on the science behind Transcervical Fibroid Ablation and indications for use,
  • To gain a deeper understanding on the procedure steps and patient selection and recruitment,
  • To gain an understanding on performing Transcervical Fibroid Ablation in the OPD under local anaesthetic.

Description

The workshop will combine lectures, case study discussion and practical stations. The lectures will include the science behind the treatment, guidance on appropriate patient selection and recruitment, procedure planning and treatment under local anaesthetic.

There will be rotational practical stations with handson experience. The practical sessions will use both models and simulators. The stations will include intrauterine ultrasound image interpretation and procedure demonstration. Stations will also include discussion on appropriate patient selection, best practice and local anaesthetic protocols. The case studies will involve videos and intrauterine images including hearing from patients about their first hand experiences following their treatments.

Who should attend?

Consultants and trainees who have registered or plan to register for the following SITMs:

  • benign gynaecology surgery: hysteroscopy,
  • benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic.

Nurses who have been performing hysteroscopic myomectomy and endometrial ablation.

GPs who have an interest in Gynaecology.
