Dear Colleagues
Croeso i Caerdydd. Welcome to Cardiff, the Capital city of Wales.
The 2012 ASM will take place at a relatively short interval from the joint BSGE and ESGE Congress in September 2011. Nevertheless, the local organising committee has put together an exciting programme to attract the usual number of delegates attending the annual BSGE meetings. The theme of the 2012 ASM “Insights into the tricks of the trade” will highlight innovative techniques and their practical relevance.
Expert speakers in themed sessions will explore and debate key topics in endoscopic surgery including service and professional practice developments, multidisciplinary collaboration amongst healthcare professionals and between different disciplines. Nurses will have a dedicated session to discuss professional topics. Most sessions will have free communications to encourage trainees, nurses as well as established clinicians to present the outcome of their research and audit projects. Delegates will also be able to bring short video presentations of novel techniques or useful practical tips for wider dissemination and discussion. The meeting will provide an ideal opportunity for exchanging ideas and information.
In line with the meeting’s theme, we will organise four preconference Masterclass workshops covering different aspects of minimally invasive surgery and tailored to meet the individual needs of the delegates.
The meeting would be a great opportunity for the industry to showcase their products and meet established and future practitioners in the field of minimal access surgery. We expect this will be a mutually beneficial experience. Places will be limited and early registration is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
We look forward to seeing you in Cardiff in April.

Chairman of Local Organising Committee,
